Specialist insurance for childcare operators.

Omnisure works with childcare businesses to manage the complex mix of liability, property, people, regulatory and operational risks that come with caring for children and running a highly regulated service.

Childcare is demanding. Your insurance programme needs to keep up.

Childcare operators face increasing regulatory compliance, licensing requirements, workplace health and safety obligations, funding pressures and evolving technology, all while maintaining a safe environment for children, families and staff.

Those responsibilities create a wide range of insurance exposures, from professional and public liability through to property, employment, cyber and long-tail claims.

Omnisure works with childcare operators to understand how the service is delivered, where the key risks sit and how the insurance programme can be structured to provide practical protection across the business.

The right childcare insurance programme needs to protect the children, the people delivering the service and the business behind them.

Cover for the risks unique to childcare.

Childcare insurance needs to respond to both everyday business exposures and risks specific to the care, supervision and education of children.

01.

Professional Indemnity

Cover for claims where the business becomes legally liable for compensation arising from a failure in childcare services, including supervision, education or other professional responsibilities.

02.

Public and Products Liability

Protection against claims involving third-party personal injury or property damage arising from business activities or the ownership or tenancy of the premises.

03.

Molestation Cover

Protection for certain liabilities arising from allegations of abuse or molestation, including long-tail exposures where claims may arise many years after an event.

04.

Personal Accident

Personal Accident cover can provide compensation following certain accidental injuries involving volunteers, children or parents without requiring the operator to first be found legally liable.

05.

Management Liability

Protection for directors, officers, managers and the company against certain claims arising from the management of the business.

06.

Property Insurance

Cover for buildings, contents, stock and other insured assets, including childcare-specific property such as playground and soft-fall equipment.

07.

Business Interruption

Cover for loss of gross profit, claims preparation expenses and increased costs associated with returning the business to its pre-loss position following insured property damage.

08.

Cyber and Privacy Protection

Cover for cyber incidents, data breaches, system interruption and the costs associated with investigation, recovery and third-party liabilities.

Understanding how your policy responds matters.

Childcare policies can include both claims-made and occurrence-based sections, and the difference can have a major impact on whether a future claim is covered.

01.

The policy in place when a circumstance or claim is notified is generally the policy that responds, regardless of when the service was originally provided.

This means circumstances that may give rise to a claim should be notified as soon as possible. If the policy lapses without appropriate run-off cover or an extended reporting period, some later claims may go uninsured.

02.

The policy in place when the incident actually occurred is generally the policy that responds, even if the claim is made at a later date.

Understanding which sections operate on an occurrence basis is particularly important where claims may arise long after the original event.

03.

Retroactive dates can determine how far back a claims-made policy will respond.

Claims arising from acts, errors or omissions that occurred before the stated retroactive date may not be covered, making continuity of cover and accurate renewal declarations especially important.

Protecting the people responsible for running the centre.

Childcare operators often focus heavily on the physical premises and liability risks, but directors and managers also face personal and corporate exposures arising from the way the business is managed.
01.

Directors and Officers

Protection for directors and senior management against certain claims alleging actual or wrongful management decisions.

02.

Statutory Liability

Cover for certain fines, penalties and defence costs arising from unintentional breaches of legislation, where legally insurable.

03.

Employment Practices Liability

Protection against certain claims involving unfair dismissal, bullying, harassment and other employment-related matters.

04.

Tax Audit Expenses

Cover for eligible professional costs associated with responding to an unexpected tax audit.

05.

Crime Insurance

Protection against certain direct financial losses caused by fraud or dishonest acts committed by employees or third parties.
